Today is a good day, for Writing Kit, my favorite text editor for iPad and iPhone, has hit version 3.0. Why is this such a good thing? Besides the fact that I got to help beta test and bug squash it, let us count the ways:
- A new “Clever Return Key” that knows when to create a new paragraph, add a new list item, and extend block quotes when you hit Return
- Full integration with Readability, so you can open your Readability queue with the built-in browser to link articles and pull in quotes, and even send links to Readability to read later
- A bunch of handy new gestures and custom buttons, such as a two-finger left/right swipe on iPad to undo and redo and a new Paste from Clipboard button in the Insert Link/Quote dialog
- A revamped and even more useful Quick Research UI
- Over 300 bang commands to use with DuckDuckGo, a great search engine and useful alternative to Google
Writing Kit is single-handedly credited with making me more excited to write on-the-go with my iPad and sometimes even my iPhone. It’s that good, and only $5 for both devices in the App Store.
